SB 477 bans landfill disposal of computers and electronic devices that contain toxins. It also required manufacturers to provide free recycling for consumers, charities, school districts and small businesses, either through their own plan or the state plan. Manufacturer must pay a registration fee and implementation fee. Covered devices include: computers, laptops, monitors, printers, TVs and anything containing a cathode ray tube.
