Quality Asset Recovery Services

Universal Recycling Technologies, LLC (URT) provides its customers with expert quality asset recovery management, turning obsolete electronics into revenue. URT's quality asset recovery management program:

  • Provides a secure chain of custody from point of pick-up at customer locations through processing at URT facilities nationwide
  • Assures data security and provides full indemnity against risk
  • Identifies any equipment that can be refurbished and resold, sharing sales revenues with URT customers on a percentage basis
  • Extracts component parts from equipment, "parts harvesting" components that retain value and can be remarketed, again helping URT clients recoup a portion of their technology investments
  • Offers its customers access to extensive secondary market knowledge, simplifying the resale process and maximizing return on investment for URT clients in the most convenient manner possible

URT holds itself to the highest standards in the industry. All assets are recycled in accordance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines. URT carries $5 million in pollution liability insurance and an established closure fund to protect its customers' long-term interests. URT also issues certificates of recycling for every customer shipment to complete the required tracking of potentially hazardous electronics and is competitively priced against lower-valued services.

At URT, data security is assured. Our comprehensive data destruction system complies with federal laws and regulations, including the Federal Privacy Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and state legislation. Going above and beyond to protect our customers' sensitive data, URT meets:

  • U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and National Security Agency (NSA) requirements for purging classified information on magnetic disk and tape media. For many years, the DOD standard for data eradication was directive 5220.22-M. Today, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has defined further eradication standards referred to as NIST 800-88, providing for both "clear" and "purged" data. URT processes meet all requirements, including DOD standards and NIST's purge rating, the highest level of security acknowledged by the NIST.
  • Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act requirements for device and media control policies that govern the receipt and removal of hardware and electronic media (including disposal, media, reuse and accountability).

Our three-phase process helps our customers manage sensitive data in the most comprehensive manner possible. URT eliminates customer liability by offering a completed certificate of destruction documenting the destruction process.

Turning Obsolete Electronics into revenue

URT helps the environment and your bottom line

URT is an established industry leader in the electronics recycling industry. We pledge to maximize the return on your investment in information technology by capturing the remaining value of your assets. Our trained experts seek the highest value available for your equipment and share the true worth of obsolete electronics submitted for refurbishing.

URT's asset management program begins with logistics management, collecting and recording the IT assets on the customer site, securing items and packaging them for transport to URT processing centers.

  • Upon arrival at a URT processing center, our receiving process captures and records into the URT IT platform the make, model and serial number, accompanied by the item count and weight count, using bar-code scan technology for accuracy and simplicity.
  • Product flow continues to identify any equipment that can be refurbished, as well as identifies and extracts component parts from equipment that retains value and can be remarketed.

In short, we turn obsolete electronics--including desktop computers, laptops, servers and networking equipment--into revenue. We also process most other types of electronic equipment, including printers, phone systems, fax machines and copiers. All assets are recycled in accordance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines.

URT can assist your company with all phases of remarketing. After your equipment has been cleaned, tested and electronically wiped to remove data, our professionals will manage each shipment based on the requirements you set forth. All equipment containing data is always processed first in our onsite data security department to ensure that all data destruction is completed in a secure environment. Based on our customers' requirements and desires, the equipment is then reviewed for reuse or sent directly to our disassembly area.

When customers allow for reuse of the equipment, each unit is tested to determine proper operation and component replacement when necessary. All equipment destined for refurbishment is inspected for corporate identification, which is then removed prior to remarketing.

URT can purchase your used equipment outright or share revenues for asset remarketing on a percentage basis when equipment is refurbished and sold. Our knowledge of the secondary market allows us to assess and maximize the value of your refurbished assets. Our proven expertise in remarketing used technology assets helps our customers recover some of the capital invested in information technology. Working together, we attain the common goal of environmentally responsible management of our customers' assets.

Testimonial

"In our industry, recycling is everything, so when it was time to upgrade our office equipment, we chose URT: Universal Recycling Technologies (formerly CRT Processing) to manage our e-waste. With URT, we were also able to purchase refurbished equipment, which saved our company money. We've been completely satisfied with all of the equipment that URT sold to us and feel good knowing that we've prevented e-waste from ending up in our local landfill."
